Ares was the devoted husband and best friend of Erica Roper, and the fiercely proud father of Ethan and Liam. A U.S. Air Force Veteran, Ares dedicated his life not only to serving his country but also to shaping young lives through youth sports. Whether coaching, cheering, or grilling for the team, Ares brought passion, warmth, and leadership to everything he touched.
Remembering Coach Ares Roper
Ares Roper was more than a coach — he was a mentor, a father figure, and a pillar in the Tinley Park community. He dedicated his spring and early summer seasons to Bobcats Baseball, and his late summers and fall weekends to Bulldogs Football. Beyond the field, he was a constant supporter in the stands — proudly cheering for Ethan at Andrew High School and Liam in the Bulldogs wrestling program.
His presence was larger than life. He inspired confidence, uplifted young athletes, and made everyone around him feel seen and valued. His loss has left an irreplaceable void not only in his family’s life but in the hearts of countless players and parents whose lives he touched.
“Words fall short of capturing the depth of this loss,” the Tinley Park Athletic Club shared. “Ares was a father to Ethan and Liam — and a father figure to so many more.”
Fundraiser Launched to Support the Roper Family
In response to this tragedy, a GoFundMe fundraiser has been organized by the Tinley Park Athletic Club and T-Bolt Football Foundation. The campaign is raising funds to assist Erica, Ethan, and Liam with immediate and future needs as they process this unimaginable loss.
“While no amount of money can ease their pain, we hope to lift some of the financial burden they now face,” the organizers wrote. “All donations will go directly to the Roper family to use as they need.”
