Trey Dean Wright of Johnsonville, Tragically Shot and Killed at Age 16, Fundraiser Launched to Support Family

Johnsonville, SC – The Johnsonville community is mourning the heartbreaking loss of Trey Dean Wright, a 16-year-old boy who was tragically shot and killed late Tuesday night, June 24, 2025, on First Neck Road near Johnsonville, South Carolina. According to the Florence County Sheriff’s Office, deputies responded to reports of gunfire at approximately 11:30 p.m. and discovered Trey lying in the roadway with multiple gunshot wounds. He was transported to a nearby hospital where he was later pronounced dead.

Authorities have confirmed the arrest of 19-year-old Devin Scott Raper of Conway, SC, who is now facing charges of Murder and Possession of a Weapon During the Commission of a Violent Crime. The shooting reportedly occurred following a verbal altercation. The Florence County Coroner Keith Von Lutcken officially identified the victim as Trey Dean Wright. Raper is currently being held at the Florence County Detention Center as the investigation continues.
